Alec was born and bred in Pitlochry where his father was the local GP for 30 years. Much of his childhood was spent fishing the many lochs and rivers around Pitlochry – this was where his love for the Scottish Countryside was first born.
In the summer of 2005 he acquired his first Deli in Pitlochry and immediately started out on a quest to find and stock it with the finest of Scottish Produce. At last he was able to marry what he loved best – fine food from the mountains, fields, rivers and lochs that make up the Scottish Landscape.
Nowadays Alec is a family man with two shops, married to Sarah with two young daughters and a small holding overlooking Pitlochry. Alec has always had a real passion for cooking and Scottish produce and it was always Alec’s dream to grow his own produce and meat. He likes nothing better than to be out in the countryside foraging for whatever is seasonal, whether it is mushrooms and fungi from the local woods, game in the shooting season, fish from the local rivers and lochs or berries and plants from the local hedgerows. Much of what the family grows on their small holding like eggs and vegetables is used in the production of the soups, quiches and baking available in the shops.
